Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
PsiLoops is an independent app made by Craig Cowden in Oregon, USA (“PsiLoops”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers the PsiLoops app for iPhone and iPad and this website, psiloops.com. Questions about it go to craig@psiloops.com.
2. What stays on your device
PsiLoops has no accounts and no sign-in. The things you make live only on your device, and we never receive them:
- your recordings, including anything captured with the microphone
- loops, kits and sets you make in Loop Lab and Set Builder
- audio you import from Files, from a video, or from your photo library
- your settings, favorites and theme
The app asks for microphone access only when you choose to record, and photo library access only when you choose to pull audio from a video. You can switch either off at any time in iOS Settings → PsiLoops. Because this data never leaves your device, deleting the app deletes it, so share or save anything you want to keep.
3. What we collect, and why
App usage analytics
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to tell us how it's used in general: for example which sound packs get downloaded and played, which screens are opened, and whether a user is on the free or Pro plan. Firebase also collects standard technical details such as device model, iOS version, app version, country (worked out from the IP address) and an app-instance identifier. We use this to decide what to fix and build, and which artist packs to add. It is not linked to your name or email, and we don't use it for advertising.
Crash reports
If the app crashes or hits an error, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report with technical details (device, iOS version, what the app was doing) so we can fix it.
Downloading sound packs
Packs are downloaded from Google Firebase Storage. Like any download, this means Google's servers see your device's IP address.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your name, Apple ID or payment details. Apple tells the app only whether your subscription is active. Apple's own handling of your data is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
When you contact us
If you email us, use the contact form (which opens your own email app), or send a bug report from the app, we receive what you choose to send: your email address, your message and, for bug reports, the app's diagnostic log. We use it only to reply and fix the problem.
This website
psiloops.com is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and secure the site. The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. The optional survey is run on this site: answers are stored anonymously (no name, email or IP address) in our own storage and used only to decide what to build next.
4. What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we never have.
- We don't show ads, and we don't share data with advertisers or data brokers.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't receive your recordings or anything you make in the app.
5. Who else processes data
We rely on a small number of service providers, who process data on our behalf:
- Google (Firebase) for analytics, crash reports and sound-pack downloads. Firebase privacy information
- Apple for App Store distribution and subscriptions.
- Vercel for hosting this website.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others. If PsiLoops is ever sold or merged, this policy will continue to apply to the data collected under it.
6. How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for Firebase's configured retention period and then deleted automatically. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days. Emails are kept for as long as we need them to help you, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU and UK, and the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how it's used, and to not be discriminated against for using these rights.
Because the app has no accounts, we usually can't tie analytics data to you personally. Email us at craig@psiloops.comand we'll help with any request, including deleting analytics data tied to your device if you can share its app-instance ID. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
For the GDPR, we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it (analytics and crash reports), on performing our contract with you (delivering packs and Pro), and on your consent (microphone and photo access, and anything you choose to send us).
8. Children
PsiLoops is made for a general audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email craig@psiloops.comand we'll delete it.
9. International transfers
We're based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the US and other countries. Where required, they use safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also let you know in the app or on this site before they take effect.
11. Contact
Email craig@psiloops.com with any privacy question or request. We aim to reply within a few days.
